About Heidelberg Primary School

Heidelberg is a suburb of Melbourne and is approximately ten kilometres north-east of the city centre.  At Heidelberg Primary School, we are focused on providing a safe and challenging environment that engages and stimulates students to become life-long learners with the academic, social, and personal skills required to be productive members of a dynamic and global society. We believe in the importance of celebrating our student’s achievements and in acknowledging and enjoying creativity and problem solving.

Heidelberg Primary School is one of the oldest schools in Victoria. Established in 1854 as a National School, it features prominently in the history of the district. Click here to learn more about the rich history of our school.

The school places great emphasis on the provision of a friendly, safe, caring and supportive environment for students, staff and parents. The community views education as a shared responsibility. The co-operative partnership between the school and home is a highly valued feature of the school. The school is highly regarded in the local and wider community. Whole-school approaches to health and wellbeing, curriculum development and assessment are embedded across the school. Social-emotional skills and concepts are developed Respectful Relationships and Restorative Practices.

Teaching teams work collaboratively to differentiate effectively across the learning spaces with the goal of meeting all students at their point of need. Students have access to a good range of ICT resources, with an emphasis on embedding their use across the curriculum. Our specialist programs of Physical Education, Visual Arts, Japanese, Library and Science provide students with high-quality programs as well as many enrichment activities.

At Heidelberg Primary School, we recognise that all learners have skills, abilities, and aptitudes and all have an entitlement to access a broad, challenging, and appropriate curriculum.
